Paul is a next-generation hook-and-line fisherman who targets everything from local Rockfish to Bluefin Tuna and White Seabass. He practices shinkejime and ikejime, ensuring the highest quality in every fish. Most Sundays, you’ll find him at the Oceanside Fishermen’s Market—arrive early before he sells out.

Antonio Estrada

Fishing for local delicacies brings together Antonio's greatest passions: good food, the outdoors, and time on the water. With a lifelong love of the sea, he’s built his career around the rhythms of the coast — specializing in White Seabass, one of Southern California’s most beloved catches. His deep respect for the ocean shows in the care he takes with every fish he lands. When he’s not on the water, you’ll find him practicing yoga, exploring new corners of the world, or in the kitchen cooking a great meal.

Greg Gershman

F/V Tanner Renee

Greg is a veteran fisher based out of North County. His love for fishing informs most everything he does and he's always waiting for the next time he can get on the water. Greg practices fishing at the highest standards of quality and sustainability with the intention of bringing high-quality products to market.

John Glawson

F/V Nicole Ann

Johnny is a native San Diegan and has been fishing for over 25 years. You can find Johnny on Saturdays selling his catch at Tuna Harbor Dockside Market. Johnny's top priority is bringing the freshest local fish to the public and local restaurants.

David Haworth

David Haworth comes from a 4th generation commercial fishing family from San Diego. You can often spot the Haworth family's boats down at the commercial dock near Seaport Village! Andrew Hemstreet

Hemstreet Fisheries

Driven by a love for fresh, delicious seafood, 23 yr old Oceanside native Andrew Hemstreet has dedicated himself to bringing the highest quality fish to the market. Andrew specializes in sourcing Swordfish, Bluefin tuna, and our Local Rockcod with meticulous attention to detail, from dock to delivery. This dedication to quality ensures every bite is an unforgettable seafood experience!

Doug Dirkse & Janelle Louie

F/V OLINKA

Both captain Doug and crew Janelle are native Southern Californians and currently call San Diego home. The boat is located at the G St. marina near Seaport Village downtown when not out fishing. They may fish up and down the west coast, ranging from the Mexican border to the Canadian border, depending on the target species (which may change season to season). Summer 2024: Fishing albacore up in the Pacific Northwest.

Matthew "Bly" Johnson has been fishing in San Diego county for over 40 years. Bly is one of the only guys in San Diego still making custom spear guns by hand. You can shop them here.

Puria Keshmiri

Blue Water Fresh Fish

Puria spent two decades in the corporate world—working as a contractor, business owner, jeweler, and Programs Manager for the Elizabeth Taylor Trust—before returning to his roots in fishing. Introduced to the water by his father during childhood, he has spent the last five years as a licensed captain operating 5-ton vessels, running charters, and transporting boats. For the past three years, he has focused on commercial fishing, working off a 1983, 22-foot vessel and hauling up to 1,000 pounds of fish. He sells directly to restaurant chefs and wholesalers, prioritizing quality and humane practices using ikijime and shinkijime methods.

Michael Kowalski

Concha Seafoods

Michael is a next-generation fisherman specializing in abundant local species—pelagic fish like Mackerel and Sardines, along with nearshore Rockfish. Most Saturdays, you can find him at the Tuna Harbor Dockside Market, where he often sells out before 10 a.m. Known for his meticulous quality control, Michael ensures every fish is handled with care and delivered at peak freshness.

Morgan Promnitz

F/V Dos Locos

Born and raised in South Africa, fishing has been a lifelong passion influenced by a family of fishermen and childhood summers spent living off the coast. What began as an obsession with rivers, abalone, and lobster grew into a career on the water, where the challenge of solving the “puzzle” of each catch provides both focus and mental release. Facing the rising costs of fuel, regulations, and the demands of working in the saltwater environment, he began selling fish to offset expenses and soon built rewarding relationships with chefs and buyers who value quality and sustainable practices. Today, his dedication to the craft continues to shape both his livelihood and his love for connecting people with fresh, responsibly caught seafood.

Steve Quessenberry

Introduced to the fishing world in 1979 after marrying a fisherman’s daughter, he has spent the past 45 years closely connected to the commercial fishing community. Many of his fondest memories stem from watching Laurel and Andy Saraspe fish. Although fishing has never been his sole occupation, the ocean has always been central to his life, both as a surfer and a fisherman. He values the beauty of being on the water, but also understands the industry’s challenges—from rising fuel costs to increasing regulations and closed fishing grounds. Passionate about supporting local fisheries, he sends his catch to El Pescador, a restaurant he admires for sourcing the freshest local seafood and supporting the community. Steve is also known as “the singing fisherman,” making children’s music (Known as “Stevie Q” on YouTube).
